Spiritual teacher and healer Ayesha Depala took to Instagram to share a list of 10 food items that will make you look at your pantry in a whole new light. She shared a list of “filthy food” that carries the “risks of heavy metals and parasites.” According to her post, right from ground coffee powder to green vegetables–that are considered healthy–have traces of rodents and insects and can even have E.Coli.

Here are the top 10 popular foods that are surprisingly gross –

1. Ground coffee – Your favourite caffeine drink can legally contain parts of cockroaches and mild spores.
2. Chocolates – She mentioned that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows up to 60 insect fragments per 100 grams and even rodent hair in cocoa powder.
3. Peanut butter – This famous spread can legally have 30 insect fragments and one rodent hair per 100 grams.
4. Packaged spices – They can contain eggs and larvae of rodents and insects.
5. Canned mushrooms – They might sometimes contain maggots, and the FDA approves up to 20 maggots per 100 grams.
6. Breakfast and cereal flour – They can also contain insect fragments from grain storage bins.
7. Frozen berries – On many occasions, they have tested positive for hepatitis A and can also contain pesticide residues.
8. Imported shrimp – They can carry antibiotics, chemical disinfectants, and even microplastics.
9. Leafy greens – Surprisingly, they can be super high in E.coli and Salmonella.
10. Canned tomato products – These can contain mould toxins from infected tomatoes.
