You can take an Indian out of India, but you cannot take their love for desi food out of them, and The Rebel Kid is no different! Apoorva Makhija may have moved to New York City for her MBA, but her love for desi flavours clearly travelled with her. The popular content creator recently tried chaat worth a whopping ₹10,000 after missing the taste of home.

The Rebel Kid Orders 6 Types Of Chaat Worth ₹10,000 In NYC

Taking to Instagram, The Rebel Kid shared that she was “really missing home”, so she ended up ordering six types of chaat from DoorDash, basically the American version of Swiggy and Zomato. She ordered the spread from a restaurant called Dhaba for $100, which comes to around ₹10,000!

First up were gol gappe, which cost her around ₹3,000. And honestly, the best part was her refusal to wash a plate or spoon after eating. Since she would have to do it all herself in New York, Apoorva decided to skip the dishes altogether and ate her gol gappas over the kitchen sink! She gave them a solid 8/10, admitting that they were way too addictive.

She also ordered Purani Dilli ki papdi chaat, but that one wasn’t quite a hit. Despite costing $35, she didn’t enjoy it much. Next came chole bhature, which cost around ₹6,000 and scored a 7/10 from her. Good enough for her to order it again!

Lastly, she tried chicken tikka masala with garlic naan, and her expression said it all. “Meetha hai inka chicken tikka masala. Aur maine spice level mein extra spicy select kiya tha. Very disappointing, 2 out of 10,” she told her followers. Overall, Apoorva rated her ₹10,000 desi food experience a 6/10.

Why Did Apoorva Move To New York?

Apoorva Makhija, better known as The Rebel Kid, has moved to New York to pursue an MBA at NYU Stern School of Business, but the degree isn’t the only reason she packed her bags. In an interview with Untriggered on AminJaz’s YouTube channel, she said she wanted to step out of her familiar social circle, meet people beyond the creator world and experience the college life she felt she missed during her undergraduate years.

Having always wanted to live in New York, Apoorva applied to just one college in the city and decided she would go if she got in. Now living in Manhattan, she hopes the move will also help her understand business better and push herself out of her comfort zone.
