Sanjay Dutt has opened his very first restaurant, Solaire, at the Grand Hyatt, and it already feels like one of the most exciting places in the city. The food is truly at the heart of Solaire. You’ll find slow-cooked Indian curries with heritage spices and European delicacies like artisanal burrata, Parmigiano cheese, and French pastries with Italian coffee. What makes the menu fun is that some of the dishes are inspired by Sanjay Dutt’s own travels and personal favourites but given a completely new twist. And then there’s the bar, a star attraction on its own. Imagine sipping on a cocktail that changes colour or trying a tangy gin-based drink inspired by Indian pickles. There’s also the Tamarind Picante and the bold Black Panther Party.

Where: Grand Hyatt, Bandra Kurla Complex, Siddharath Nagar, Vakola, Vicinity Located, Residences, Mumbai
When: 12 pm – 4 pm; 7 pm – 1:30 am
Cost: ₹2,500 (For two)

2. HOM

The name “HOM” comes from the Sanskrit word “homa”, a fire ritual, and fire really is central here. Whether it’s the big open kitchen with a tandoor and a wood-fired grill or the food itself that celebrates char, smoke, and flame, HOM is bursting with a primal yet modern vibe. On the plate, Chef Saurabh Udinia takes ingredients we all know and gives them a fiery, adventurous spin. For example, there’s Charred Broccoli with chilli-cashew sauce, Smoked Aubergine on Goan sambal toast, and Snapper Crudo with tamarind buttermilk. Created by the famous bar consultancy Countertop, the cocktails are fresh, tropical, and fun. Drinks like Ashes to Oolong with whisky and hojicha tea, or Beets by Café with vodka, espresso, and beetroot, show how creative the list is.

Where: 682-691, Khar Pali Rd, 15th Rd, Bandra West, Mumbai

This is the kind of cafe you walk into for a casual coffee but end up staying for the food. The menu is all about global comfort dishes with quirky twists that make you smile. For example, their Thecha Shakshuka takes the Middle Eastern classic and spices it up with fiery Maharashtrian thecha. The Sri Lankan-style cottage cheese curry is rich with coconut milk and fragrant spices, while the Toastada gives you that perfect crunch with beans and veggies layered on a crispy tortilla. And of course, the gooey cheese-filled Arancini is something everyone will want to order. Perfect to check out this October, this new restaurant in Mumbai is the kind of place where you discover something new with every visit.

If you love vegetarian food but sometimes feel it can get repetitive, World of Palates at Nariman Point is going to be a refreshing surprise. This new restaurant is all about giving vegetarian dining a whole new look by combining international flavours with local ingredients. You can start your day with wholesome breakfasts like moong dal chilla, misal pav, avocado toast, or even peanut butter banana toast. The fun begins when you try their small plates, like Paneer Thecha, Mushroom Galawat Phyllo, Veg Baklava, or even Tacos. When it comes to the mains, there’s something from almost every part of the world, like Zatar-spiced Seekh, lasagna and ravioli, Thai curries, chow mein, and even Chermoula-charred broccoli.

6. House Of Paloma

This isn’t just another cocktail bar; it’s a cultural space where art, design, and cocktails come together beautifully. The highlight, of course, is the cocktail menu. The drinks are inspired by Latin America, where agave-based spirits like tequila are celebrated. You’ll find creations like Caliente, Mogo Mogo, and their signature Paloma 1950, which reimagines the famous Paloma cocktail with their own twist. But the food here is no less impressive, with options like crispy eggplant tacos, Mangalorean-style chicken drumsticks, temaki rolls, and even lobster risotto with smoky tandoori flavours.

Where: Number 545, 33rd Road, Near McDonalds Linking Road, Ground Floor Excel Entertainment, Bandra West – 400052, Mumbai

7. HyLo Taproom

At Jio World Drive in BKC, HyLo Taproom by Igloo has arrived with a big idea: to bring authentic Indian food and world-class craft beer together. The food here is deeply rooted in Indian traditions. You’ll find dishes like Aam aur Mircha Wings made with fiery Naga chilies, Goan Chorizo Chilli Fry Dogs, Karampodi Chilli Paneer, and even a family recipe of Kaaley Chane ke Shaami. The beer program is just as exciting. Since they’ve partnered with Igloo Craft Beers, you’ll get exclusive pours like the Brewer’s Blonde Ale and the Konkan Rice Lager, brewed with local rice. If you’re not in the mood for beer, cocktails like the Bombay 51 or The Tribal Story keep things inventive yet Indian-first.

8. The Black Shepherd

In Bandra, The Black Shepherd is serving authentic British pub food without any Indian tweaks. Chef Rahul Kotak, who spent years in the UK, wanted to create a restaurant that feels like a love letter to British cuisine and pub culture. Their Fish & Chips, made with local Asian seabass, is crisp, golden, and paired with mushy peas and tartare sauce just like in the UK. Other favourites include the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger and delicate Madeleines for dessert. The playlist shifts with the time of day, moving from mellow to lively, so it always feels like you’re part of a story.

Where: Shop 1-A, Gloria Apartments, St. John Baptist Road, Bandra West, Mumbai
When: 11:30 am – 3:15 pm; 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm

Together, these new restaurants show just how exciting Mumbai’s dining scene has become in October, whether it’s vegetarian food going global or cocktails turning into art.
