Hrithik explains, “For War 2, we decided to give Kabir a bearded look for the beginning bits of the film, as he is seen running a covert operation deep undercover for years. As the film progresses and Kabir’s mission is revealed you can see a slight stubble that he carries, that is to convey that he is on the go. As for the flashback sequences, he is clean shaven.”
War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, has long since stormed the theatres, but Hrithik’s Kabir still lingers in audience memory—thanks in part to his striking new look. Sporting a full-grown, groomed beard, the transformation was no accident. Before the release, Hrithik had hinted at a contrasting look from War (2019), the previous installment of the franchise, “We have opted for a full-grown beard, you’ll know why when you watch the film.” In hindsight, the choice was spot on: the appearance amplified Kabir’s intensity, complementing the story’s progression as the film demanded. Even months later, that brooding, bearded avatar as seen in his entry scene remains one of the most talked-about aspects of the rogue agent’s return.

Elaborating more on his pivotal career moments where facial hair took centre stage in character building, Hrithik cites the examples of his highly acclaimed films, Lakshya and Guzaarish. The superstar shares, “Playing an Army officer in Lakshya, I had to be well groomed and well kept.”
In Guzaarish, Hrithik played the role of Ethan, a paraplegic magician. The actor shares, “It was the first time I had to maintain a full-grown beard, my character required me to don an unkempt beard, moustache and hair.” His filmography, boasting diverse roles ranging from family dramas, actioners, and genre-defining films, required him to keep adapting his style for his character.
