Delhi is set to host the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13, and the event is bringing several changes to public transport in the national capital. With heightened security and traffic restrictions in place from September 11 to 13, several train services across Delhi-NCR have been cancelled, diverted or rescheduled. BRICS Summit: Delhi-NCR Trains Cancelled And Diverted

According to NDTV, Northern Railway has announced changes to train operations around New Delhi railway station between September 11 and 13. Several local EMU and MEMU services have been cancelled, while some long-distance trains will run on diverted routes. A few services will also originate or terminate at different stations, while others are expected to depart later than their scheduled time.

On September 11, cancelled services include trains operating between Palwal and Shakurbasti, Ghaziabad and New Delhi, New Delhi and Palwal, and Delhi Junction and Shamli. Some linked services have also been modified, with certain trains starting from Ghaziabad or Delhi Shahdara instead of New Delhi.

Several prominent trains, including the New Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani, New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani, New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani, New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani, New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani and Sampoorna Kranti Express, will also operate via alternative routes. Some trains, including the New Delhi-Hyderabad Express and Grand Trunk Express, are scheduled to leave up to 120 minutes late.

The changes will continue on September 12 and 13, with more EMU services cancelled and several long-distance trains diverted or rescheduled. Passengers travelling during these dates have been advised to check their train status before leaving for the station. Updates can be checked through the National Train Enquiry System or railway helpline 139.

Metro Services To Start Early To Ease Commute

For those relying on the Delhi Metro, services will continue to operate during the summit. DMRC has said that all Metro stations will remain open unless any specific change is announced.

According to Business Today, to make commuting easier amid the traffic restrictions, Delhi Metro services will start at 6 AM on Sunday, September 13, across all lines. The early start is aimed at helping students appearing for examinations as well as the public reach their destinations on time.

With more than 35 roads expected to face traffic controls and 22 diversion points identified across Delhi, commuters heading towards the airport and major railway stations have also been advised to leave early and allow extra travel time. Authorities have recommended using the Metro, particularly for airport travel.
