Passenger Misbehaves On IndiGo Delhi-Kolkata Flight
On September 1, a passenger travelling on IndiGo flight 6E 6571 from Delhi to Kolkata was handed over to security officials after landing. According to a report by India TV, the passenger, a lawyer seated in 31D, allegedly consumed alcohol onboard despite restrictions and began chanting religious slogans. He reportedly misbehaved with the cabin crew and made inappropriate comments.
Not only that, a fight also broke out on board, disturbing many passengers. As per Hindustan Times, an IndiGo spokesperson later confirmed that the passenger was under the influence of alcohol. In line with aviation protocols, he was declared ‘unruly’ and handed over to security upon arrival. A complaint has also been lodged against him.
Passenger Denies Allegations
As per the same report, the passenger has denied the allegations and filed a counter-complaint. It was further reported that the flight was stranded at the parking bay in New Delhi for nearly three hours due to operational delays before departure.
The passenger seated in 31D had boarded the aircraft in an intoxicated state and began chanting “Har Har Mahadev”. He was also found concealing a soft drink bottle that allegedly smelled of alcohol. When questioned about it, he hurriedly gulped down the drink. The passenger, however, claimed he had not consumed alcohol during the flight but admitted to having a beer at Delhi airport before boarding.
Both IndiGo and the passenger have now filed complaints against each other. Further details are awaited on the matter. IndiGo, however, has stated that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of disruptive conduct.
