ICB & Assam Rifles Conduct Scuba Diving Training In Lakshadweep
The Indian Coast Guard is known for frequently hosting diving training programmes and expeditions. These initiatives aim to develop essential operational capabilities, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and support marine conservation efforts. The Indian Coast Guard took to its official X account to share an update on their recent programme.
According to the X post, the Indian Coast Guard and the Assam Rifles successfully conducted a joint scuba diving training programme from January 4 to January 20, 2026, at Kavaratti Island in Lakshadweep. The programme focused on enhancing underwater operational skills and familiarising personnel with diving equipment. It also worked on improving safety procedures and emergency response techniques.

Why The Training Matters
As per the Indian Coast Guard’s X post, the participation of officers and personnel from both forces “strengthened interoperability, joint preparedness and synergy.” These skills will contribute to better maritime security, disaster response, and overall operational effectiveness. The official Indian Coast Guard page also shared images from the training, including visuals of the team posing underwater with the Indian flag.
You would like to know that diving skills play a crucial role in several maritime operations, such as search and rescue missions (SAR), underwater inspections, and recovery tasks.
