Keeping in view the disruptions on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), the Northern Railways has decided to flag off special train service between Banihal in Ramban district and Katra in Reasi district from September 19. This special service will run for 15 days, and here’s all you need to know about it.
Special Train Service Between Katra And Banihal Stations
According to Hindustan Times, the Jammu divisional administration requested the railway authorities on Thursday to run a special train service between Katra and Banihal, following disruptions on NH-44. The Northern Railways added another train service between the two stations for 15 days, till September 30.
This train service will ensure safe and efficient travel for the public as the NHAI continues to restore the affected stretch at Tharad and Samroli in Udhampur district on the Jammu-Srinagar NH. The highway disruption has stopped the downward movement of apple-loaded trucks from Kashmir to reach other states. Reopening the NH is crucial, as the delay could lead to fruits rotting and heavy losses for traders.

As per the railway authorities, the special train between Katra and Banihal will run for 15 days. It will depart from Banihal at 11 AM and arrive at Katra at 1.30 PM daily. On the return leg, the train will depart from Katra at 1.45 PM and arrive at Banihal at 4.10 PM, with the stoppages at the same stations.
