Ranbir Kapoor Turns A Year Older: 6 Destinations From His Travel Diary

Today marks the 44th birthday of Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, who has often talked about his love of travel. From wildlife adventures in Africa to luxury escapes in Rajasthan and city breaks in New York, several destinations have found a special place in his travel diaries. On his birthday, here’s a look at some of the places Ranbir Kapoor has loved visiting and has spoken about over the years.

1. Masai Mara, Kenya

For Ranbir Kapoor, a trip to Kenya’s Masai Mara is nothing short of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Known for its vast grasslands, spectacular sunsets and incredible wildlife, the destination offers travellers the chance to see animals in their natural habitat. In an earlier interview, Ranbir described Masai Mara as “the trip of your lifetime”. He recalled waking up around 4:30 am, heading out for long game drives and spending hours surrounded by nature without television or the internet.

2. Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan

Ranbir’s love for wildlife has also taken him to Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan. Located near Sawai Madhopur, the reserve is known for its Bengal tigers, leopards, marsh crocodiles and historic surroundings. Ranbir has often spoken about becoming “an addict to safaris” and mentioned Rajasthan, Ranthambore and Africa while discussing his travel plans.

3. Sujan Jawai Camp, Rajasthan

Jawai is another destination that has featured more than once in Ranbir’s travel plans. Located in Rajasthan’s rugged wilderness, Sujan Jawai Camp combines wildlife experiences with a luxurious stay. The region is known for its granite hills, caves, sand riverbeds and views of the Jawai Dam. Ranbir has visited the camp several times and celebrated his 39th birthday there with Alia Bhatt.

The actor has also spoken warmly about returning to Rajasthan, making the region a recurring part of his travel diaries.

4. New York City, USA

New York has a particularly personal connection for Ranbir. Before becoming one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, he lived in the city for four years. Since then, it has remained one of his favourite places to return to. In a 2024 interview, Ranbir called New York his “favourite place in the world”. He has often travelled to the city with Alia Bhatt and their daughter Raha, enjoying its streets, restaurants and shopping spots.

He had previously spoken about his love for New York as well, saying the city would “always be top of the heap” for him.

5. Kashmir

Kashmir is another destination. Ranbir has specifically mentioned it among the places he loves. In a 2022 interview, while discussing his ideal leisure plans, the actor said, “I love New York and Kashmir.”

With its mountains, lakes, valleys and snow-covered landscapes, Kashmir offers a very different experience from the wildlife-focused destinations on Ranbir’s list. The actor has also spent considerable time in the region for film shoots, including during the making of Rockstar. For Ranbir, Kashmir appears to be more than just a shooting location, with the actor including it among his favourite places to visit.

6. Mauritius

Mauritius also holds a special place in Ranbir’s travel memories. In a 2024 Q&A, the actor named a family holiday to Mauritius as his best international holiday. He recalled travelling there with his parents and sister and enjoying time by the beach and in the water. Ranbir has previously spoken about Mauritius as a destination he enjoyed for its beaches, swimming and wildlife.

With its tropical beaches, turquoise waters and relaxed atmosphere, the island offers a completely different kind of getaway from Ranbir’s safari holidays and city breaks.
