According to Hindustan Times, during the Andhra Pradesh capital region development authority meeting, the state government shared plans to develop the Krishna riverbank, along Amaravati, as a Marina waterfront to boost tourism in the region. The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati, is expected to give the region a significant tourism push.

State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana shared the details with the media after the meeting. He said the Chief Minister has directed the concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive master plan to develop the Krishna riverfront in Amaravati into a leisure hub. The plan is expected to integrate water sports along with leisure and tourism infrastructure, positioning the area as a key destination for visitors.

As per HT’s report, the CM has emphasised that the Marina waterfront along the Krishna river in Amaravati will align with the vision of developing Amaravati as a “blue-green city.” The plans also include the construction and beautification of internal canals for this project.

Reportedly, the APCRDA has agreed to allocate one acre of land under a public-private partnership model to park up to 60 boats at Marina waterfront along the Krishna River. Authorities are expected to soon invite tenders for the construction of jetties, tourism leisure boats, food plazas, landscaping, and other waterfront amenities as part of the project. Furthermore, during the meeting, the authorities also discussed the possibilities of exploring the islands in the Krishna River for tourism development.
