Commuters using the Karnataka stretch of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway will soon need to pay toll charges. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has finalised the toll rates for the 71-km stretch between Hedigenabele (near Hoskote) and Sundarapalya (near KGF). This section connects Bengaluru to eastern Karnataka. Here are the revised rates.
Toll Charges Finalised For Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway
As per a report by Hindustan Times, this 71-km stretch had been unofficially open to traffic for over seven months. Many commuters had already started using the road for daily travel. However, toll collection will begin once the system is fully integrated and operational. The collection will be managed through four dedicated toll plazas.
A one-way trip in cars and jeeps from Hedigenabele to Sundarapalya will cost ₹185. A return trip will cost ₹275. In the reverse direction, a one-way trip will cost ₹190. Monthly passes are also available for regular commuters. A 50-trip pass will cost ₹6,105 in one direction and ₹6,260 in the reverse direction.

Toll Rates Vary By Vehicle Type
Toll rates will change based on the type of vehicle and direction of travel. Light commercial vehicles (LCVs), light goods vehicles (LGVs), and minibuses will be charged ₹295 for a one-way trip from Hedigenabele to Sundarapalya and ₹445 for a round trip. From Sundarapalya to Hedigenabele, rates go up slightly to ₹305 and ₹455. On the other hand, Heavy vehicles like trucks and buses will pay ₹650 for a one-way journey from Hedigenabele and ₹930 for a return. Coming from Sundarapalya, the charges will be ₹635 and ₹955. Moreover, the four toll plazas are located at Hedigenabele, Agrahara, Krishnarahapura, and Sundarapalya.
Let us also tell you that the expressway allows speeds up to 120 kmph. It has become a preferred route for those travelling to KGF and nearby parts of eastern Karnataka. Reportedly, its official launch was delayed due to the absence of enforcement, which led to several violations. Many two-wheeler riders had been using the road by slipping through incomplete sections of the boundary wall, causing multiple safety accidents. The NHAI has now sought clearance to deploy home guards at toll plazas and vulnerable spots until the fencing is fully complete.
