Tired of waiting in long immigration queues? This smart government facility allows faster and smoother immigration clearance for Indian nationals at major airports. The Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) allows quicker clearance, but what exactly is it? Read on to know!

What Is The FTI-TTP Programme?

According to a report by Business Standard, the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) allows easy clearance through automated e-gates, reducing long waiting hours at both departure and arrival. An initiative by the Home Ministry, FTI-TTP is an immigration clearance for pre-verified passengers. Once approved, travellers can skip traditional counters and use the automated e-gates that rely on biometric authentication using this smart immigration process. This programme is helpful for frequent flyers and business travellers. The facility is currently available at key Indian airports like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. To use the service, travellers can register either offline at the airport itself or through an online application process.

What’s The Enrolment Process?

Travellers who want to opt for the offline enrolment option have to go through a process at the airport. Here’s how to get the enrolment:
  • Visit the FTI-TTP counter or designated e-gate lane.
  • Show your passport, which has at least six months’ validity
  • Complete biometric capture, which consists of your fingerprints and facial scan.
  • Once approved, the traveller can begin using e-gate for immigration checks.

For online enrolment, the process is quicker and simpler, and one can do it just by sitting at home. This process reduces last-minute hassles. Here’s how to do it:

  • Register at ftittp.mha.gov.in/fti
  • Log in and fill out an application form
  • Upload all the required documents
  • Submit the application; there is no fee for it
  • Wait for background verification
  • Once approved, book an appointment for biometric capture.

What It Means For Indian Passengers

With the rise in outbound travel and increasing congestion at major airports, travellers have to wait for long hours at the immigration counters, which has become a key friction point. The FTI-TTP programme aligns India with global trusted traveller systems for faster processing.
