Imagine you’re eating a warm, crispy dosa at the airport in Bengaluru when all of a sudden your breakfast becomes a full-fledged airport security scare, complete with sniffer dogs and areas that have been cordoned off! Does that sound crazy? Ami Palan experienced precisely that. Her \meal at Terminal 1 of Kempegowda International Airport quickly turned chaotic as someone else unintentionally picked up her bag.
Bengaluru Airport’s Breakfast Mishap Sparks Security Alert
I was eating a dosa at the T1 arrivals area in Bangalore, and I had kept my bag right next to my table since there were other tables adjoining it. At some point, someone accidentally picked up my bag instead of theirs and left the airport. I only realised something was wrong when…

Ami Palan, a user on X, explained how her ordinary morning at Kempegowda International Airport’s Terminal 1 arrivals area took a dramatic turn. Like many travellers, she had stopped for a bite and was enjoying a dosa while waiting. Her bag was placed right next to her table, among other tables in the same area.
After finishing her meal, she stood up and realised her bag was missing. At first, it was confusion. Then came panic. She immediately approached the CISF control room and reported her bag as missing, assuming it had either been misplaced or accidentally taken by someone. Almost at the same time, airport security was alerted to an unattended bag lying in the exact spot where she had been eating.
Airport officials followed protocol in the absence of an owner. Travellers were kept at a distance, the area was promptly cordoned off, and sniffer dogs were brought in to inspect the bag for any possible threats. Suddenly, a normal breakfast stop turned into a high-alert security situation.
After multiple checks and frantic phone calls, the mystery was finally solved. The bag hadn’t been stolen. Another passenger had accidentally picked it up, genuinely mistaking it for their own, and had already left the airport. By the time security traced the person, they had reached Yeshwantpur. Palan later confirmed that her bag was safely traced and returned.

Netizens Share Their Own Stories
Social media had a field day with the story. Many users found humour in how dramatically the situation escalated. One user commented, “A dosa that escalated into a full security drill with sniffer dogs wasn’t on today’s itinerary.” Another wrote amusingly, “How life finds ways to entertain you.” One user even showed relief and said, “At least you got the bag back!”
Some users were more suspicious, suggesting it might have been theft. But Ami Palan quickly clarified that it was an honest mistake and not a crime. Others chimed in with similar stories about bags taken from conveyor belts, identical luggage causing confusion, and airport mix-ups that turned into “a different circus altogether.”
Airports are crowded, bags often look the same, and a moment of distraction is all it takes for confusion to spiral into chaos.
