Indian Entrepreneur Moves Away From London Due To High Cost Of Living
Entrepreneur Pallavi Chhibber took to her Instagram handle (@pallschhibber) to announce her and her familyâs difficult decision of leaving London after a decade. She reasons that the UK capital is a city that facilitates survival. not growth. So, she and her husband canât see long-term opportunities for growth anymore.
The next reason she gives is that London has become âobnoxiously expensiveâ. She gives an example of a family dinner at Dishoom, an iconic Indian restaurant in the city. The family ordered Aloo Chaat, Fried Okra, Jackfruit and Chicken Biryani, and they ended up paying a bill of 80 GBP (âč9525 approx).

Cites High Taxes, Lack Of Growth As Reasons For Decision
Pallavi Chhibberâs third reason for leaving London is the tax rate of 42%, which is very high. âWith indirect taxes, it nearly comes to 50%,â says the entrepreneur. She adds, âHalf your salary goes to the government.â In her caption, Pallavi writes that the decision wasnât easy. But she canât ignore reality, as many of her friends are struggling too, and she is a hardcore London girl after all. The mother empathises with her 16-year-old, who has to start fresh in a completely new school. Now that life has given them an opportunity to shift, she decided to grab on to it.
Netizens took to the comments section to wish the entrepreneur the best for her new journey. âGood decision to move to India,â wrote a commenter. Another person shared waiting at Dishoom for 40 minutes for a table, and another 30 minutes for food. Others remembered leaving London after spending a good few years due to the exorbitant cost of living.
