Aam Ras In Dosa? Surat’s New Fusion Food Has Netizens Saying, “We’re Traumatized!”

aam ras dosa Surat

Surat’s love for cheesy street food and quirky fusions is nothing new. The city is known for adding cheese to just about anything and proudly owning it. The latest addition to this list is the aam ras dosa. With mango season in full swing, this Surati fusion might make sense locally. But for many others, it’s being called nothing short of a culinary disaster.

Surat Food Stall Whips Up Dosa With Aam Ras & Cheese

Digital creator Vatsal Jariwala (@thefoodiecam) recently shared a video of a food stall in Surat making a dosa filled with aam ras and cheese. Calling it the “craziest fusion ever,” the video begins with what appears to be a regular dosa, with the batter spreading evenly on a hot tawa.

But then comes the twist. A bowl of aam ras is poured onto the dosa and spread across the surface. And just when you think it can’t get any more unusual, a generous layer of cheese is added, something Suratis might find familiar, but others may not.

To finish, the vendor sprinkles what appears to be dhaniya, folds the dosa, and cuts it into small pieces. The dish is then served with not one, but two bowls of aam ras on the side. Let that sink in.

Keeping the weird food combination in mind, someone in the comments wrote, “Sooryavansham 2026!”

A foodie recommended, “I would say. Put rabri, mawa, or some other creamy item on dosa, and then eat with aam ras.”

“I had it in Surat and it tastes delicious, I mean really delicious,” one of the netizens wrote, and we’re really suspicious!

“Surat is a food graveyard. So many dishes died there,” another user wrote.
