Good news for Mumbaikars and Bengalureans! After a 30-year wait, the Union Ministry of Railways has approved a new direct superfast train connecting Mumbai and Bengaluru, the country’s two major hubs! The move will make travel faster, easier, and more seamless. Here are all the details.
A Superfast Train Coming Soon Between Bengaluru & Mumbai
BJP’s Tejasvi Surya shared the positive news on his X account today. Tejasvi, who was joined by Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced that despite Mumbai and Bengaluru being India’s most important hubs, the two cities were connected by only one train: the Udyan Express, which takes over 24 hours to complete the journey. This long journey often forces most people to opt for flights, which can be expensive for many.
Moreover, Tejasvi Surya mentioned that there has been consistent demand from people of both cities to start more train services between Bengaluru and Mumbai. After his persistent efforts, a superfast train between these two cities might soon become a reality.
Affordable & Comfortable Travel For Commuters
In the video he uploaded on X, Tejasvi pointed out that in 2024, over 26 lakh people travelled by rail between Bengaluru and Mumbai. This new superfast train will definitely help make travel more affordable for these lakhs of citizens.
According to the statement, Tejasvi had raised this issue multiple times in Parliament, PAC meetings, and with the Railway Board chairman and Minister over the last four years. He also expressed that it was baffling that such important “economic nodes” as Bengaluru and Mumbai did not have more than one direct superfast train for so long.
Finally, his persistent efforts have paid off. He ended his statement by saying, “In the coming days, rail travel between the two cities will increase and will benefit lakhs of people. Gratitude to PM Narendra Modi ji and Ashwini Ji for making this happen!”
This is definitely a great move. A superfast train is soon going to become a reality for Mumbaikars and Bengalureans. It will be more convenient and faster. The new train will help decongest travel and provide a cheaper alternative to flights, as well as a comfortable option to buses. The service is expected to benefit lakhs of commuters, business travellers, and even families.
