While the nation is still reeling from the Red Fort blast, fresh panic spread on Wednesday after the IndiGo airline received bomb threat emails targeting five major Indian airports, including Delhi and Mumbai. Authorities quickly stepped up security measures across all affected airports in response. While the threats turned out to be a hoax, it triggered panic.
5 Airports, Including Delhi & Mumbai, Receive Hoax Bomb Threats
According to The Indian Express, five Indian airports–Delhi, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai and Hyderabad–received bomb threats on Wednesday. Following this, the airport authorities activated all necessary security protocols as a precautionary measure at these airports, and launched investigations.
Reportedly, IndiGo airline received a bomb threat email around 4 PM. The Delhi Police shared that the email claimed that a bomb was placed at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport Delhi. After the threat was received, three fire tenders were dispatched to the airport. Thankfully, after initial checks, it was confirmed that the threat was a hoax.

Another Threat On Varanasi-Mumbai Flight
According to News18, another bomb threat email targeted an Air India Express flight from Varanasi to Mumbai. The email claimed that a bomb had been planted on the aircraft and threatened to blow it up. Acting swiftly, airport authorities in Varanasi conducted a thorough security check of the plane following the alert.
The bomb threats come just two days after the tragic Red Fort blast in Delhi, which claimed 12 lives and sent shockwaves across the country. In the aftermath, security had already been tightened at airports, railway stations, metro networks, and all public places. These fresh threats have only added to the tension.
