Akasa Air, one of India’s youngest airlines, is gearing up for a major international expansion. The airline is successfully operating on six international routes and has now set its sights on several African destinations, including Kenya, Ethiopia, and Egypt. As part of its 2026 plans, Akasa is aiming to connect Indian travellers to iconic spots like the Pyramids of Giza and the Masai Mara, marking a significant step in its global growth journey. According to The Times of India, Akasa Air is evaluating operating flights to East Africa and beyond as part of its international flight expansion in 2026. The airline is eyeing destinations like Kenya, Ethiopia, and Egypt. Furthermore, they are also aiming to begin flight operations to Mauritius, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan from India next year.

While talking to PTI, Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube said that the airline is very, very good about the delivery schedule for its Boeing fleet. He mentioned that the Boeing 737 MAX fleet will be able to “go to Mauritius, Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt, and into Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan” as well.

Airline’s International Routes

Akasa Air has ordered 226 Boeing 737 MAX jets, setting it up for steady growth and more routes in the coming years. The three-year-old airline currently has flights to Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City, and Phuket. Vinay Dube shared that Akasa’s international flights currently account for about 20% of its total capacity, and the airline aims to raise this to 30% by March 2027. He added that the focus is on steady, sustainable growth rather than rapid expansion.
