Scroll down to know more.

Delhi To Introduce Special Buses For Temple Tourism

As per a report by India Today, the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) is planning to launch two special buses under the initiative. The project is currently in the bidding stage, and seats will be available to book through the government’s “Dekho Mere Delhi” site, where the new circuit is expected to be installed after launch.

As per the officials, the suggested route will connect major religious sites, like Akshardham, Birla Mandir, Lord Venkateshwara (Balaji) Temple, Kali Bari in CR Park and Yogmaya Temple in Mehrauli. The buses will travel from one spiritual destination to another, permitting visitors to cover multiple places of worship through a single organised tour. If things go well and as planned, more temples could be added to the circuit.

The department proposes to start with two buses and assess public response before broadening the service. Smaller buses are likely to be used primarily due to route and height restrictions. Officials told the portal that the initiative is aimed at expanding Delhi’s tourism appeal beyond heritage sightseeing. While Delhi is often known for its Mughal-era monuments and archaeological sites, it is also home to many important places of worship that attract pilgrims and tourists throughout the year.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar & Sadhguru To Visit Akshardham

As part of the project, the tourism department will host a day-long workshop by spiritual leaders and organisations from across India at Akshardham later this month. This will be followed by a meal with prominent spiritual figures, including Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Sadhguru.

The proposed religious circuit is said to be among the major tourism initiatives being pursued by the department, including heritage promotion programs, monument conservation efforts and events encouraging residents to explore the city’s cultural history.

According to the officials, the new spiritual tourism route will enhance that initiative by concentrating specifically on temples and religious destinations. While preparatory work is progressing, the launch date has yet to be finalised.
