The 57-day Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to run from July 3 to August 28, 2026. And ahead of that, Jammu is rolling out some special offers to draw more pilgrims and persuade them to spend more time in Jammu instead of just heading to Kashmir via the Vande Bharat Express. Keep reading to know all about these offers!

Special Offers For Amarnath Pilgrims In Jammu

According to NDTV, Jammu hotels are offering a 30% discount on advance bookings, while taxi unions in Jammu have also launched budget-friendly tour packages. These special offers are being announced to persuade Amarnath Yatra pilgrims to stop in Jammu for one night instead of heading straight to Kashmir via the Vande Bharat Express to Srinagar.

The hoteliers have stated that if these special offers turn out to be successful, then the same discount will also be extended to on-the-spot bookings. On the other hand, the Railway Taxi Union has also announced special tour packages to Pahalgam and Baltal. This is being introduced in the hope of encouraging pilgrims arriving from Srinagar to halt in Jammu.

Why Is Jammu Offering Discounts To Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims?

All these offers bring us to our next question. Why is Jammu offering discounts to pilgrims? According to NDTV, two years ago, 39% of Amarnath pilgrims halted in Jammu. Last year, in 2025, this figure dropped to just 31%. This means that seven out of 10 yatris now bypass Jammu and head straight to Kashmir. This has impacted occupancy numbers in the city.

Moreover, the Srinagar-Jammu Vande Bharat service is now operational, and the numbers are expected to drop further. Pawan Gupta, president of the All Jammu Hotel and Lodge Association, shared with NDTV that currently 90% of their hotel rooms are empty. This is why they are offering special discounts to ensure that yatris spend at least a day or two in Jammu.
