Amid West Asian Conflict, Air India Flies Back 149 Passengers From Dubai To Delhi

On Tuesday, Indira Gandhi International Airport welcomed 149 passengers and eight Air India operating crew members arriving from Dubai amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia. Air India Flight Brings Back 149 Passengers From Dubai To Delhi

According to the Business Standard, Air India brought the first batch of passengers from Dubai to Delhi on Tuesday. The airline flew 149 passengers from Dubai, marking the first operation by an Indian carrier to bring passengers home amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

This follows an announcement by Dubai Airports about the limited resumption of operations from the evening of March 2. A small number of flights were allowed to operate from Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).

Thanking the Government of India, DGCA, and the local authorities in Dubai for their cooperation and for making this homecoming possible, Air India wrote on X, “We are happy to welcome our guests and crew from Dubai aboard flight AI916D. This is the first flight by an Indian carrier to arrive in New Delhi today with 149 passengers and 8 operating crew members onboard, amid the ongoing situation in the Middle East.”

Dubai Announces Limited Resumption Of Operations

According to The Tribune, 143 cockpit and cabin crew members of Air India and Air India Express who were stranded in Dubai have also returned home safely. While Indian carriers are gradually resuming operations and many stranded passengers are hoping to return, authorities have urged caution. Travellers have been advised not to head to DXB or DWC unless they have been directly contacted by their airline with a confirmed departure time.
