India is a country that often gets a very mixed image on social media. Many international creators post about India, but sometimes what they show isn’t the full story. India is a country rich in culture, friendly people, delicious food, and stunning scenery. And one Australian creator, Duncan McNaught, has decided to shed light on all that and more about India.
Australian Creator Goes Viral For Showing India’s True Beauty
A recent Instagram video posted by Australian influencer Duncan McNaught has received over 204,000 views. In his video, McNaught explained that social media has often done India a disservice. He said, “Social media has done India wrong. There is a negativity bias on social media, and for India, this means people filming its extremes. In reality, India is a beautiful country full of rich culture, diverse landscapes, and amazing people. I’m not denying its problems—any country of 1.5 billion people will have its problems—but as someone who has good Indian friends, it’s sad to see how India is portrayed to the world.”
What makes his message special is that he isn’t just criticising; he’s taking action. McNaught said that over the next three months, he will be sharing the beautiful, lesser-known parts of India with his followers. He wants to show India as it really is.
Netizens Celebrate The Authentic Side Of The Country
People on social media have responded in a very positive way. Netizens praised Duncan’s perspective and shared their own experiences. One declared, “India is the coolest place I’ve been to, hands down,” while another said, “We’re going to India soon and we are so excited!!!!.” One person even called India their favourite country.
Many travellers shared personal stories that reflected Duncan’s message. One commenter said, “Most people visit Delhi and Mumbai and call it a day. India is such a diverse country that it still surprises me even though I was born here and lived here all my life.”
Some travellers even recounted adventures that show India in a completely different light, like riding 250 kilometres on horseback through Rajasthan. These stories highlight that India is full of experiences beyond the usual tourist spots, and Duncan’s initiative is helping people see this.
In a world where negative clips often dominate social media feeds, Australian creator Duncan McNaught’s video is a refreshing reminder that India is more than the extremes people see online.
