Bangaloreans, You Can Earn ₹250 By Sharing Photos Of People Throwing Garbage In The City; Here’s How

Bangaloreans, do you often see people throwing garbage on the roads and find yourself helpless to tackle the situation? Bengaluru has now come up with an ultimate solution. Littering on roads and in public spaces is a bad habit. We often come across people tossing wrappers or garbage and feel helpless about it. Sure, we can tell them not to, but that can often escalate and lead to arguments. However, Bengaluru has now introduced an all-new idea to handle this problem.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) have launched a new initiative to tackle the issue. As per a report by The New Indian Express, if a Bengaluru resident spots someone littering or dumping garbage in the streets, they just have to record a video and share it with BSWML on their WhatsApp number: 9448197197. In return, the person sending the video will receive a ₹250 reward.

How The Reward System Works

According to the report, BSWML Managing Director Karee Gowda stated that the initiative aims to strengthen the organisation’s image and ensure people take waste management seriously. Those recording the violators are also encouraged to share the location and any additional details if possible.

Authorities are also exploring options to transfer the reward money directly to the UPI accounts of those sharing the videos. It should also be noted that the identity of the informants will be kept completely confidential. Additionally, fines will be imposed on the violators or the “litterbugs”, ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹10,000. The penalty would depend on the quantity and type of waste thrown. This new initiative aims to encourage citizens to act responsibly and help keep Bengaluru’s roads clean.
