Bengaluru Metro made headlines in August for successfully transporting a human organ for the first time. Now, the BMRCL is in the news again for facilitating the transport of a human heart and saving a life once more. They also shared the update on their official X account.

Live Human Heart Transported Via Bengaluru Metro

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation played a crucial role in saving a human life on Thursday, September 11. As per a report by The Hindu, it facilitated the rapid transport of a live human heart for a medical emergency. The organ, moved by a Sparsh Hospital medical team, was transported via Namma Metro from Yeshwanthpur Metro Station to Mantri Square Sampige Road Metro Station late at night. It was then taken to Apollo Hospital. The news was also shared by @OfficialBMRCL on their official X account.

The operation began at 11:01 pm and was concluded by 11:21 pm. Thanks to the coordination, the human heart covered a distance of seven stations in just 20 minutes, ensuring that a life was saved. The human organ was carried inside Train ID 12, Train Set 29, with the hospital team on board.

Close Coordination With Hospital Teams

According to the same report, Assistant Security Officer Honne Gowda, along with other metro staff, worked closely with the hospital team to ensure a smooth transfer. The staff supervised security, logistics and made sure the handover of the organ was done without any delay.

This was not the first time Bengaluru Metro has helped save a life. Back in August, the metro successfully transported a live human liver for a transplant. Retrieved from a donor at Vydehi Hospital in Whitefield, the organ was transported via metro to speed up delivery. Just like this heart transport, BMRCL officials were present to assist the process, handle documentation and ensure all necessary protocols were followed. Furthermore, BMRCL has stated that it remains committed to extending timely support for such emergencies. They also mentioned that the city’s metro system can be used for critical healthcare needs.
