To prevent visa scams and fraud in India, the British High Commission has now expanded its ‘Visa Fraud Ton Bacho’ campaign. It has unveiled a new QR code for its official WhatsApp chatbot. According to a report by Hindustan Times, this new feature will make it easier for users to access official advice in a more accessible manner, including in Punjabi.

Moreover, the new chatbot also helps users identify common visa scam tactics by offering official guidance from the UK government. It offers useful information on legal routes to travel to the United Kingdom. It should also be noted that the ‘Visa Fraud Ton Bacho’ initiative was originally introduced in February this year. The campaign aims to safeguard Indian citizens from becoming targets of visa-related scams.

In the coming months, they plan to widen the campaign’s reach across Punjab and Haryana. The WhatsApp chatbot is available in both English and Punjabi. Users can WhatsApp +91 70652 51380 to access information.

Additionally, the British High Commission will create information resources to tackle fraud and visa-related scams. This information will then be shared with local authorities and trusted partners involved in the campaign. Daniel Sherry, Political Counsellor at the British High Commission, attended the launch event. Amandeep Grewal, Deputy Head of Mission, Chandigarh, was also present.
