Indians Can Make UPI Payments In Cambodia
As per a report by NDTV, Indian travellers will now be able to do UPI-related payments in Cambodia. The introduction of Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-enabled QR payments marks an important step in easing cross-border transactions, specifically for tourists used to cashless payments. With millions of Indian travellers heavily relying on digital payment systems, this step aims to boost convenience while promoting Cambodia’s tourism and retail sectors. The rise in standards also signals a greater push towards smooth financial access across borders. So travellers visiting Cambodia can now make QR-based payments at more than 4.5 million merchants across the country.

Right now, the scheme focuses on allowing Indian travellers to pay in Cambodia. The upcoming phase will expand the system into a fully bi-directional path. Additionally, Cambodian citizens travelling to India will soon be able to use their local banking and mobile payment apps to scan UPI QR codes across India.
