Inspired By The Thanjavur Painting Style

As per a report by Deccan Herald, the gold Ramlalla idol draws inspiration from the Thanjavur painting style. It is set in a rosewood frame that measures 10 feet in height, 6 feet in width and 2.5 feet in depth. Interestingly, Jayashree, a home-maker, specialises in Thanjavur paintings and pursues art as a hobby.

Over the past decade, the 50-year-old artist has donated 10 of her works to various temples. Furthermore, this Ramlalla idol for Ayodhya took her around 2,800 hours over nine months to complete. She began with a thermocol structure, layered it with clay and finished it using gold leaf sheets.

The artwork also includes depictions of Lord Hanuman, Garuda and the Dashavatara alongside Lord Ram. Moreover, this was Jayashree’s first attempt at creating an ‘idol-like’ artwork. Authorities transported this idol from Karnataka under tight security, with all ceremonial protocols.
