Taking another step towards seamless connectivity, the Dahisar East Metro Station, Mumbai Metro’s first-ever paid-area interchange, is now open. This station is expected to make travel smoother for commuters by allowing easier transfers between lines, reducing travel time, and improving overall accessibility across key corridors in the city.

According to News18, the Dahisar East Metro Station enables commuters to switch between two metro lines without exiting the paid area, helping save time and ease congestion at entry and exit points. With safety testing completed, the entire Phase 1 is now operational.
The interchange station integrates Metro Line 7, Line 2A and Phase 1 of Metro Line 9. It connects the Red Line (Dahisar East to Andheri East), the Yellow Line (Andheri West), and phase 1 of Metro Line 9 (Dahisar East to Kashigaon).
To put it simply, the new interchange significantly improves suburban connectivity. Commuters travelling from Mira Bhayandar can now board a metro at Kashigaon and travel directly towards Andheri East without needing to change trains. In the future, the network will expand further with the addition of Line 7A to CSMIA airport, along with connections to Lines 3, 4, and 10.

How It Will Benefit Commuters
News18 explained that this interchange will significantly reduce travel time for the commuters. Currently, it takes about 1.5 hours for people to travel between Mira Road and Andheri. With the opening of Dahisar East Metro Station, this commute time will be reduced to less than 50 minutes. It will also help ease road congestion on the Western Express Highway (WEH) and the Dahisar toll naka.
This interchange will greatly benefit residents of Mira Bhayandar, Dahisar, Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Goregaon, and northern Mumbai suburbs in general. It is to be noted that due to the election code of conduct, the Dahisar East interchange will be opened for public use after January 15. Reports also state that Phase 1 of Mumbai Metro Line 9, connecting Dahisar East to Kashigaon, has been commissioned following CMRS safety clearance.
