14 Dead, 23 Injured After Bus Collides With Truck In Andhra Pradesh

On Thursday morning, a fatal bus accident in Andhra Pradesh claimed 14 lives. A private bus collided head-on with a truck in Markapuram, killing 14 people and leaving several others seriously injured. Both vehicles caught fire and were completely charred. Rescue teams are now working to identify the victims and contact their families.

Fatal Bus Accident In Andhra Pradesh

A private bus travelling from Jagitial in Telangana to Vinjamuru in Andhra Pradesh, carrying over 37 passengers, collided head-on with a gravel-laden tipper truck in Markapuram early Thursday morning. According to India Today, the accident claimed 14 lives and left 23 people seriously injured. The bus caught fire soon after the collision, and several victims were burned to death.

The accident occurred around 6 AM when the Harikrishna Travels bus crashed into the truck. Authorities responded swiftly, dispatching multiple rescue teams to the spot. With the help of local residents, teams rescued several passengers trapped inside the burning bus. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals and are currently undergoing treatment.

Here’s What We Know So Far

According to Deccan Herald, preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding by the tipper truck may have caused the accident. The truck reportedly collided with the bus as it was taking a turn near a slate quarry in Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and grief over the incident. He reportedly spoke to officials to ensure adequate medical care for the injured. The Chief Minister also directed authorities to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the accident and submit a detailed report.
