The Delhi government is now planning to procure two luxury boats with air-conditioned cabins at a total cost of ₹6.2 crore for VIP inspections of the Yamuna River. These high-end boats will come with modern features and will also be used for emergency rescue operations when needed. Here’s what we know so far.
Delhi To Purchase 2 VIP Boats For Yamuna River Inspections
According to a report by Hindustan Times, a tender has been issued by the government’s Irrigation and Flood Control Department. The tender states that the Delhi government is set to purchase two air-conditioned boats with enclosed cabins for VVIPs and VIPs. Each boat will be priced at around ₹3. 10 crore. The bidding process is scheduled to conclude on March 19, 2026.
These luxury boats are being planned to support the cleaning of the Yamuna River, which requires frequent inspections by officials. The current system relies on hired boats, which limits availability and response time. Moreover, these boats will also be used for emergency rescue operations, especially during floods or festivals.

Boats To Have VIP Seats, Pantry & AC Cabins
According to Hindustan Times, each boat will accommodate 16-20 people. It will be around 13 metres long, 4.3 metres wide and 2.1 metres tall. The boats will come equipped with several amenities. Cabins will have cassette-type rooftop marine air conditioners and customised business-class push-back VIP seats. There will also be a dedicated pantry for serving food, along with washrooms and a fresh water storage capacity of 400 litres.
Each boat will also include an open rear deck for VIP public appearances, with sofas that can seat three to four people. The interiors will have an aesthetic look with concealed LED lights and ambient lighting. The boats will be equipped with 300 HP four-stroke engines, with fuel tanks holding 700-1000 litres, along with diesel generators for power supply. Proper safety features will also be included in these VIP boats for the Yamuna River inspection in Delhi.
