Russian President Vladimir Putin wrapped up his two-day visit to India on Friday, December 5th. He was welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Russian President stayed at the prestigious ITC Maurya Hotel, which is located in one of the most prominent locations of Delhi. For his welcome, the well-known Delhi hotel rolled out a red carpet!
President Putin Stayed At The ITC Maurya Grand Presidential Suite
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, was staying at the ITC Maurya Grand Presidential Suite. This is a luxurious suite, which personifies India’s unity and diversity. This was achieved through the interplay of colours, interiors, fabrics, artefacts, and motifs. Reflecting the grandeur of the country’s heritage, it exemplifies the sustainability credentials.
A Warm Welcome By The Hotel
For the President’s welcome, the hotel also created a 13×8 feet natural floral art wall. And he was given a traditional Indian welcome, complete with a vibrant Rangoli of seasonal flowers and rice at the Chaitya Lobby of the hotel. Not only this, the chefs at ITC Maurya curated a delightful-looking chocolate-themed wonder model. It featured the India Gate and Saint Basil’s Cathedral, which are iconic symbols in India and Russia. This model represented the enduring friendship and cultural harmony that is shared between the two nations.

A Look At The Gifts Presented To The President
As the President left the country, he was given a slew of handpicked gifts, each meaningful in its own way. As mentioned in the report of The Print, he was given Kashmiri Saffron, a hand-inlaid marble chess set from Agra, black tea from Assam, a silver tea set from Murshidabad featuring intricate engraving, and a handcrafted silver horse figurine from Maharashtra. The curated selection of gifts represents India’s diversity and also offers a little slice of the exquisite craftsmanship, culture, and geography of the country.
This selection of gifts was rounded off by the Bhagavad-Gita with a Russian translation, which is known for its timeless wisdom.
