Delhi To Noida International Airport In Just 21 Mins? UP Plans High-Speed Rail Corridor

The Noida International Airport, also known as the Jewar Airport, will soon become operational. As per the latest development, authorities are planning a high-speed rail connectivity between Delhi and this new airport that could reduce the travel time to around 21 minutes, making the commute between these two destinations much faster.

Rail Connectivity Between Delhi-Noida International Airport

The Uttar Pradesh Government has now approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). This corridor will connect Delhi to the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar. According to The Indian Express, once completed, the travel time between these two destinations will reduce to around 21 minutes.

This means travellers from Delhi who have flights taking off from NIA will be able to reach the airport quite fast. The DPR has now been sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for final clearance. Reportedly, the DPR also includes provisions to integrate the proposed Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor with the airport terminal through a dedicated section.

Flight Services From NIA To Commence From June 15

According to The Indian Express, the Yamuna Expressway region is expected to become a major cargo hub after the Noida International Airport becomes operational. Authorities are also planning other infrastructure projects to further improve connectivity to the airport in Jewar.

The Noida International Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28. Commercial flight services are all set to commence on June 15. IndiGo would be the first airline to operate from the airport, serving as the launch carrier. It should be noted that this is going to be the second airport serving the Delhi-NCR region after Indira Gandhi International Airport.
