Date And Puja Timings For Dhanteras 2025
Devotees believe that on Dhanteras, Lord Dhanvantari, the god of Ayurveda, and Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, emerged from the ocean during its churning. This is why Dhanteras is considered especially sacred and has deep religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. People deck up their homes with lights, oil lamps, and rangolis and pray for happiness, health, and prosperity on this day.
This year, Dhanteras will be celebrated on October 18. According to The Economic Times, the Trayodashi Tithi will begin on October 18 at 12:18 PM and end on October 19 at 1:51 PM. The Pradosh Kaal will last from 5:48 PM to 8:19 PM, and the Vrishabha Kaal will last from 7:15 PM to 9:11 PM. The most auspicious time for Dhanteras puja will be between 7:15 PM and 8:19 PM on October 18, 2025.

Rituals To Follow On This Day
On Dhanteras, start your day with a holy bath and then clean your home thoroughly, especially the puja area. During the puja Muhurat, light a diya, offer sweets, a flower garland, and a tilak to the idols of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Kuber, and Lord Dhanvantari. In the evening, devotees also believe in placing a diya to Lord Yama, facing the southwest direction.

Devotees believe that buying new things on Dhanteras invites Goddess Lakshmi’s grace into your home and life. But what to buy? Here are a few things that are considered especially auspicious –
1. Gold and silver – You can buy them in the form of jewellery or coins.
2. Utensils – Instead of steel and iron utensils, buy silver, copper, or brass ones for prosperity.
3. Broom – To welcome positive energy and do away with the financial worries, it is best to buy a broom on Dhanteras.
4. Gomati Chakra – It is believed to ward off evil eyes and bring success in life.
5. Kuber Yantra – It attracts wealth and good fortune.
6. Electronic Appliances or Gadgets – Nowadays, investing in and upgrading to modern appliances is also considered auspicious.
