Dharamshala, the peaceful hill town nestled in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, took a big digital step on Friday with the launch of its official tourism website: VisitDharamshala.com. And adding a truly special touch to the moment was His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who officially launched the website for Dharamshala from his residence in McLeodganj.
Dalai Lama Launches ‘VisitDharamshala.com’ For Global Travellers
The new website is being seen as a major milestone for the region. It brings together everything that makes Kangra special, from snow-capped mountains to warm local culture, all in one place, just a few clicks away. The initiative has been led by the Dharamshala Hotel and Restaurant Association to bring you a single platform where you can check the weather, browse through verified hotels, learn about local attractions, and even plan your adventure trips.
Association president Ashwani Bamba explained that the aim is not just to attract tourists but to do it responsibly. According to Hindustan Times, he said that they wish to promote environmentally friendly travel that also provides job opportunities for the locals. He added that only verified service providers would be featured to maintain transparency and trust.

Dharamshala, already known as the spiritual home of Tibetan Buddhism, has long attracted visitors from across the globe. Now, with this website, it is all set to make travel planning smoother, safer, and more accessible for everyone. District Tourism Officer Vinay Dhiman shared with the Hindustan Times that the Himachal Pradesh government has already declared Kangra as a ‘tourism district’, highlighting its importance in the state’s travel map. He added that VisitDharamshala.com will act as a “digital bridge,” connecting travellers with Kangra’s natural beauty, spirituality, and warm hospitality.
With the launch of VisitDharamshala.com, travellers now have access to reliable information, confirmed accommodation, and carefully selected experiences. Long-term growth, fair opportunities, and greater visibility will also benefit locals.
With this initiative launched by the Dalai Lama, Dharamshala is surely ready to welcome the world.
