Images of the stadium are going viral on social media, leaving netizens surprised at these details, especially Lord Shiva devotees. But that’s not all. There are many more details about the stadium that you should know.

Varanasi International Cricket Stadium Has A Lord-Shiva Inspired Design

Images of the Varanasi International Cricket Stadium are making waves online. The stadium features unique trishul-shaped floodlights as part of its design, inspired by Lord Shiva. Its photos are going viral online, leaving devotees happy and excited. According to a report by Indiatimes, the foundation stone of this international cricket stadium in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, was laid by PM Narendra Modi in 2023. The venue is expected to be completed this year. The video of the trishul-shaped lights were posted by @naveenjindalbjp on X. 

The stadium has been built at a cost of ₹450 crore. The entire stadium follows a Lord Shiva theme. Apart from the trishul-shaped floodlights, the venue also features crescent-shaped roof covers and a belpatra-shaped entrance. Sounds amazing, right? The best part is that the stadium dome is shaped like a damru, the small two-headed drum known to be Lord Shiva’s instrument. Can you believe that?

Ganga Ghat-Like Seating

According to Indiatimes, the seating arrangement at the Varanasi cricket stadium has steps inspired by the ghats of the Ganga. Users on the internet could not stop commenting on the design. Some reactions included, “This is the perfect tribute to Lord Shiva in Kashi, the energy here will be unmatched,” and “Trishul rules in Bholenath’s nagri.” 

Another comment read, “It is really unique and one of its kind.” One X user also mentioned how the trishul floodlights show peak “Varanasi energy”.  Reportedly, the stadium has a capacity of 30,000 spectators and follows a special Lord Shiva theme. The reason? According to Hindu mythology, Varanasi was founded by Lord Shiva and is believed to be his earthly abode. Varanasi is also known as ‘Shivji ki Nagri’.
