Passengers creating a nuisance on board flights is not really uncommon, and this is what happened on Wednesday. An Air India flight AI 278 from Colombo, Sri Lanka, was on its way to Delhi when an intoxicated passenger started misbehaving with a woman passenger. As per a report by The New Indian Express, he also made inappropriate gestures towards crew members and other flyers.

As soon as the Air India flight landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday night, the man was handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Moreover, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was also informed about the incident.

No Formal Complaint Registered Against The Accused

According to the same report, no formal complaints were registered by any of the victims at the police station. The accused has now been let off. The flight AI 278 had departed from Bandaranaike International Airport on Wednesday at 7:42 pm, 30 minutes late from its scheduled time.

A passenger, Ashwani Kumar, a garment businessman from Faridabad, shared with TNIE that the flight was already halfway towards its destination, when there was suddenly a loud commotion among passengers. When he turned, he saw a man in his 40s walking around in a drunken state and out of control.

According to Ashwani, this man had molested a woman seated in the 25th row. The woman was accompanied by two male passengers. Once the flight landed, the crew requested everyone to remain seated. A CISF personnel member quietly came and escorted the drunk passenger off the flight.

Air India confirmed the incident. They shared with TNIE that the passenger also ignored the seatbelt sign and used inappropriate language towards the crew and other passengers.
