Low-Intensity Earthquakes Recorded In Nashik
According to a report by The Live Nagpur, the tremors in Nashik, Maharashtra, were quite low in intensity, and no injuries have been reported so far. The series of mild earthquakes occurred within 24 hours and may have caused panic among Nashik residents. The first tremor, measuring 1.5 on the Richter scale, was reported on Sunday at 7:49 pm.
A second quake of magnitude 1.35 followed around midnight. Two additional quakes, each measuring 1.2, were felt early in the morning and later in the afternoon. All four earthquakes were recorded by the seismological centre. Though the tremors were mild, residents of Harsul and nearby villages in Trimbakeshwar taluka followed necessary precautions.
Residents Step Outdoors As Precaution
According to a report by The Live Nagpur, several families stepped out of their homes as a precaution. Some people also chose to remain outdoors all night, fearing another earthquake. Children and elderly residents were affected by anxiety and were reported to be quite unsettled by the frequency of tremors. According to the district authorities, disaster management teams are on high alert. They are closely tracking seismic activity in the region.
Officials have appealed to citizens not to panic and to follow all safety advisories. Reportedly, mild tremors have been observed in the area during similar periods over the past two years, especially between December and February. This is why officials are now investigating ground conditions in the affected villages.
