Mumbai Metro is literally leaving no stone unturned to improve the metro rail network in the city. With the new Aqua Line, the commute between north and south Mumbai has definitely become easier. Now, in another major boost, two new metro lines will open by the end of this month. Here is everything you need to know about it.
Two New Mumbai Metro Lines Coming Soon
Mumbai commuters can take a sigh of relief. Two sections of Metro Line 9 and Metro Line 2B will become operational by December 31. According to a report by Hindustan Times, these sections are a portion of Line 9 between Dahisar East and Kashigaon and a part of Line 2B between Diamond Garden and Mandale. Both stretches are part of the first phase of these metro lines.
Reportedly, both metro lines will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Metro Line 9, an extension of Line 7, is a 13.58 km elevated corridor. It connects Dahisar East with Mira-Bhayandar. According to a News18 report, this corridor will have these stations:
- Dahisar
- Pandurang Wadi
- Miragaon, Kashigaon
- Sai Baba Nagar
- Meditya Nagar
- Shahid Bhagat Singh Garden
- Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium.
- Andheri (E) to CSIA extension will cover Airport Colony (elevated) and CSIA (underground).

Line 2B To Offer A Crucial East-West Link
Metro Line 2B connects DN Nagar to Mandale in Mankhurd. Line 2B is under construction, with trial runs underway on its first phase between Mandale and Diamond Garden in Chembur. According to a Hindustan Times report, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority plans to open the second phase of Line 2B by next summer.
This line will connect DN Nagar to Saraswat Nagar in Khar. Once fully complete, the 23.6 km Line 2B will have 20 stations. This metro line will offer another crucial east-west connection for Mumbaikars. The stations include:

- Prem Nagar
- Indira Nagar
- Nanavati Hospital
- Khira Nagar
- Saraswat Nagar
- National College
- Bandra Metro
- Income Tax Office
- IL&FS
- MTNL Metro

- Mankhurd
- Mandale Metro
