India is now grappling with a shortage of glass bottles. Firozabad, India’s historic ‘Glass City’, is facing a severe crisis due to gas shortage triggered by tensions in the Middle East. Glass Bottle Shortage In India

According to The Economic Times, supply chains for at least half a dozen glass-using sectors have been impacted due to the gas shortage in India. The Indian government has diverted liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) away from factories to households after tensions in the Middle East impacted fuel imports.

According to Times Now, for more than 400 years, Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh has been producing glass using traditional methods. The town’s furnaces operate continuously at close to 1500°C. But the gas shortage in India is forcing factories to reduce production. You should know that glass manufacturing requires intense, continuous energy. Manufacturers Struggling Due To Rising Costs

According to Times Now, costs for glass and other expenses have risen by over 20%, making it difficult for many companies. The impact of the gas shortage is spreading fast in India. From liquor bottle makers to jam jar suppliers, medicine vial producers, and cosmetic jar manufacturers, everyone is struggling. Even milk bottles and everyday household glassware are becoming harder to source.

Bengaluru-based Mossant Craft Kombucha co-founder Shishir Sathyan shared with Bloomberg that for the past month, his company has been searching for glass flasks for their premium drinks, but there is nothing available to buy. According to him, it is the worst time of the year to face this issue because summer is when the sales of cold beverages rise sharply.
