And in her latest post, she shared some kitchen hacks that are so simple, you’ll wonder why you didn’t try them earlier.

Genius Kitchen Hacks That Actually Work

Arunamu posted kitchen hacks that are easy, effective, and surprisingly life-changing.

No More Tears While Chopping Onions

We’ve all had that moment, you start chopping onions, and suddenly your eyes are burning. Aruna’s tip is to put the onion in the freezer for 15 minutes before cutting it. She also suggests cutting near a running exhaust fan or opening a window to improve air circulation. It’s such a small change, but it makes cooking so much more comfortable.

Peel Garlic In Just 10 Seconds

If you cook often, you know peeling garlic can feel never-ending. Her trick is surprisingly fun:

  • Separate the garlic cloves.
  • Put them in a steel container.
  • Close the lid tightly.
  • Shake it vigorously for 10 seconds.
  • When you open it, the skins are loosened and almost completely peeled off.

It’s quick, satisfying, and perfect for busy weekdays when you’re in a rush.

Added Too Much Salt? Don’t Panic

Everyone has over-salted a curry at least once. Instead of throwing it away, Aruna suggests dropping two raw potato cubes into the curry and letting it simmer for about 10 minutes. The potatoes absorb the excess salt naturally. It’s a simple fix that saves your dish and reduces food waste too.

If your curry still tastes slightly salty even after the potato trick, here’s another easy fix. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar and a squeeze of lemon. The sugar balances the saltiness, while the lemon brightens the overall flavour.

Ripen Fruits Overnight Naturally

Got raw mangoes? Hard avocados? Green tomatoes?

Here’s her overnight trick:

  • Place the raw fruits in a paper bag.
  • Add a ripe banana or apple inside the same bag.
  • Fold it shut.
  • Leave it at room temperature overnight.
  • By morning, they’re perfectly ripened.

This works because bananas and apples release ethylene gas, which speeds up the ripening process.

What makes Aruna Mucherla’s tips stand out is how practical they are. They’re the kind of tricks passed down in kitchens for generations. Now, which one are you trying first?
