German Man Posts His ‘Brutally Honest’ Indian Places Ranking
From calling out Rajasthan as the best hub for food to calling Meghalaya the best destination for adventure, German vlogger Christian Betzmann’s list has touched a chord with many tourists and Indian followers. However, he not only appreciated the cities but also criticised Delhi’s pollution, which has also sparked a major debate online.
Sharing the post on Instagram, Betzmann wrote, “After travelling to over 20 states in India, here is my honest rating! There are sooo many places I could mention all over again, though.” Alongside the caption, he posted a series of photos and videos from his travels across the country. The first slide read, “I visited 20 states in India. Here’s my brutally honest ranking.”
In the following photos, he pointed out what stood out most in each place in India he visited. Betzmann called Punjab the best place for religious experiences. Meghalaya for the best adventures, Kerala as home to the best people, Goa for its strong sense of community, and Rajasthan for serving the best food.

While the vlogger highlighted many parts of the country for their distinct tourist attractions, he was also open about the downsides, calling Delhi the “most polluted” place he went to. His post has since led to mixed opinions on social media, with many agreeing with his rankings while others argued about his views on the national capital.
How Did Social Media React To It?
As soon as the vlogger uploaded the post, it quickly gained attention with many questioning about the places he visited. One user wrote, “Best waterfalls Goa ? Not Meghalaya. Goa ones are amazing too though.”
Another wrote, “A foreigner posts their favorite Indian states, and half the comments become, “What about my state?” We keep saying India is a beautiful mosaic of cultures, but sometimes we act like it’s a state-wise ranking competition instead.”
One user said, “Wow , goosebumps for me seeing these pictures , one of the best ratings i have come across , salute you brother, salute motherland India.”
