Good news! India is all set to get another wildlife safari spot in Gujarat. The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has now approved Asia’s first desert-themed drive-through night safari and zoological park in Deesa, Banaskantha district of Gujarat. Here’s everything you need to know about this!

Gujarat To Get Asia’s 1st Desert-Themed Night Safari

The Gujarat Forest Department will develop this much-awaited Desert Zoological Park and Night Safari on 103 hectares of government land at Deesa, at an estimated cost of ₹542.14 crore. According to Hindustan Times, this will be Asia’s first desert-themed drive-through night safari, which has made all wildlife lovers excited about the project.

The zoo is planned to house 2,700 native and exotic animals and birds representing nearly 83 species. It will have a day zoo along with five dedicated night safari enclosures, which will allow visitors to see and observe nocturnal animals after sunset. Most importantly, the project will also focus on conservation breeding, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, and environmental education.

Asiatic Lions, Caracals, Wolves & More To Be Seen

Now let’s talk about what animals you will get to see in this wildlife safari in Gujarat. According to Hindustan Times, people will get to spot animals like majestic Asiatic lions, blackbuck, sloth bears, caracals, Indian wolves, Indian desert foxes, leopards and more. Reportedly, the park will be designed around a desert ecosystem with arid landscapes. It will also be home to African cheetahs, African lions, Angolan giraffes, springboks and ostriches. Australian species like kangaroos, emus and wallabies may also be housed in the park.

The facility may also include a reptile safari, rainforest biome, aquarium, aviary, reptile house and a butterfly park. Moreover, authorities are also planning to include a food court, souvenir shop and golf cart services for visitors. The project is still in its initial stages, but if everything goes as planned, this wildlife safari will definitely boost tourism in Gujarat.
