In a heartwarming incident, a woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy at Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru on Wednesday. With the help of fellow passengers and railway officials, including the Railway Protection Force (RPF), she delivered the baby safely.
Woman Gives Birth At SMVT Bengaluru Station
It was just a regular day at SMVT Bengaluru when a remarkable incident unfolded on Wednesday. A pregnant woman, Archana Kumari, aged 23, waiting for her train on the platform, gave birth to a healthy baby boy with the help of her fellow passengers and railway staff. As per a report by The New Indian Express, both are in good health. The woman was reportedly travelling to Hatia on train no. 12836 SMVT Bengaluru-Hatia Express, when she experienced severe labour pain. RV Suresh Babu, part of the train squad who was on duty at the time, alerted other officials to seek immediate medical help.
The good news was also shared on X by the Divisional Railway Manager of the Bengaluru Division. The post read, “A pregnant passenger gave birth to a healthy baby boy today at SMVT Bengaluru station. Women staff and fellow passengers extended timely support. She was later shifted to a hospital for further care. Indian Railways remains committed to passenger well-being.”

RPF And Staff Rush To Help As Woman Delivers Baby
The deputy station master (commercial), along with RPF personnel and women staff, quickly shifted the woman to a private room at the station when she went into labour. She delivered a healthy baby boy at 8:30 in the morning, after which both the mother and baby were taken to CV Raman Hospital for further care.
Archana Kumari’s husband, Nishank Kumar, was informed about the delivery. He thanked the railway officials and staff for their timely help in assisting his wife during the delivery.
