In the latest crackdown on food adulteration, Hyderabad is back in the spotlight. In two separate incidents, food safety officials uncovered major adulteration rackets. They seized over 4 tonnes of adulterated ginger-garlic paste in the Katedan area of Hyderabad; and in the second incident, they destroyed unhygienic badam milk and kulfi products in Mallapur. Hyderabad Manufacturing Unit Busted For Adulterated Ginger-Garlic Paste
According to Telangana Today, around 4,032 kg of adulterated ginger-garlic paste and 6,200 kg of low quality raw materials was seized at a manufacturing unit in Katedan, Hyderabad. The unit was supplying ginger-garlic paste to city restaurants and wholesalers, and the seized items were worth about ₹22 lakh.
During the raid, officials found that the ginger-garlic paste was being made in unhygienic conditions using low-quality ingredients, including garlic peels, along with chemical additives like acetic acid and xanthan gum. A joint team from the Task Force (Khairatabad) and the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) arrested the unit’s owner, Hasan Ali Rupani, in the IDA area of Mailardevpally on Tuesday.

Unhygienic Milk, Kulfi Products Destroyed In Surprise Raid

In a separate incident, Telangana food safety officials uncovered major hygiene violations during a surprise inspection at a manufacturing unit in Mallapur, Hyderabad. Sharing details on X, they revealed that badam milk was being prepared in extremely unhygienic conditions, with food products left exposed to flies, raising serious safety concerns.
Given the potential risk to consumers, the team immediately discarded around 50 litres of prepared products on the spot to prevent them from reaching the market. According to NDTV, the Commissioner of Food Safety has assured strict action against those found violating norms. Officials added that enforcement proceedings are already underway under the relevant food safety regulations.
