A restaurant in Hyderabad named Chiranjeevi Dhaba recently came under fire. The establishment received a legal notice for apparently using Telugu ‘megastar’ Chiranjeevi’s name and image. The restaurant opened earlier this year in Nallagandla and quickly rose to fame. Here’s what happened next.
Hyderabad’s Chiranjeevi Dhaba Gets A Legal Notice
India is a country where fans find countless ways to show love for their favourite celebrities, actors, and singers. From getting tattoos to waiting for them at airports for a selfie, love runs deep for many. But a fan in Hyderabad found a unique way to express his love for Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi. Earlier this year, he opened a restaurant named Chiranjeevi Dhaba in the city. Though his intentions were good, the restaurant soon received a legal notice for using the superstar’s name.
According to a report by The Times of India, following a Hyderabad Civil Court order to safeguard the actor’s personality rights, not just Chiranjeevi Dhaba but several other establishments using Chiranjeevi’s name were served notices. However, the restaurant’s owner, Ravitej, took to Instagram to clarify the situation. He confirmed they had indeed received a notice, but explained that the restaurant was started purely out of admiration for the megastar.

Megastar’s Team Allows Dhaba To Continue
There was some good news, too. The owner revealed that they met with Chiranjeevi’s team and explained their genuine and respectful intentions. Following the discussion, megastar Chiranjeevi happily gave his consent for them to continue using his name. The restaurant wrote, “The way he responded, so quickly and so kindly, through his team deeply moved us. We named our restaurant after him to express our admiration, but through his noble gesture, he gave us an even greater reason to feel proud as his fans.”
Chiranjeevi Dhaba further clarified that they would never do anything that brings disrepute to the actor’s name. The detailed clarification, shared on Instagram by the owner of the restaurant, cleared all doubts among fans. The owners also made it clear that they would never associate the restaurant with liquor bars or any unlawful activities. Following the post, many fans flooded the comment section, appreciating both the megastar and the restaurant. Several even promised to visit soon.
The Chiranjeevi Dhaba has not only gained fame for its name but also for its unique theme that celebrates the megastar. The interiors are adorned with wall art depicting Chiranjeevi, too. The restaurant served wood-fired dishes packed with traditional flavours and spices.

All’s well that ends well! It’s a happy ending for Chiranjeevi Dhaba. The restaurant can now officially continue using Chiranjeevi’s name, with the megastar’s blessing!
