Travel by cabs has become very common these days. Many of us book cabs for office commutes or to travel to different locations. However, concerns around safety often make people second-guess this choice. Recently, a Gurgaon woman faced a harrowing situation while travelling in a Rapido cab. She was allegedly harassed by the driver after she simply asked him to lower the volume of the music. Here is the complete account of what happened.
Gurgaon Woman Shares Disturbing Rapido Cab Experience
A Gurgaon woman recently took to her Instagram account (@stargirl_on_the_go) to share an incident with her followers. On December 15, she booked a Rapido cab to return home from her office. During the ride, she was on a phone call while the driver played music at a very loud volume. She politely asked him once or twice to lower the volume. The situation soon escalated. The driver responded rudely and told her, “This isn’t your father’s car.” He then began threatening her.
The woman again calmly questioned his way of speaking. Instead of apologising, the driver asked her to get out of the car in the middle of the night. She told him she would book another cab, but the situation grew scarier. The driver started taking a different route and said, ‘Ab tujhe batata hoon’ (now I’ll show you).
Despite being scared, the woman stayed calm and asked him to stop the car. She got down and initially decided to book another cab. She then changed her mind and dialled 100 to report the incident to the police. While sharing this with her followers, she broke down and said this was the first time she had taken such a bold step. She did it not just for her own safety, but for many other women across the country.

Officials Allegedly Tried To Dissuade Her From Filing FIR
The incident did not end there. According to her post, officials allegedly tried to dissuade her from filing an FIR. They reportedly told her they would beat the driver up or keep him locked up for the night instead. The woman refused and insisted on filing the FIR. The Gurgaon woman later informed her parents about the incident and went to the district court the next day to file a case against the driver.
She ended her post by saying that this incident should teach the driver how women deserve to be treated, and urged other women to be brave in such situations. She also wrote, “Respect women or face consequences. This voice is not just mine; it belongs to every woman who was forced to stay silent. I will pursue this court case fearlessly and will make sure he learns a life lesson.”
Many Instagram users flooded her comment section with messages of support. One user wrote, “So brave.” Another commented, “You are a very strong girl.” One Instagram user also wrote, “So so proud of you to speak up. So many of us go through similar struggles and decide to keep quiet to avoid inconvenience and shame.
@rapidoapp, it’s not unusual for your drivers to act this way, one main reason I’ve stopped using this app.”
While this was indeed a brave step by the woman, Rapido has not yet responded to the incident.
