IMD Issues Cold Wave Alert For Delhi & Other North Indian States; Rain Expected In South India

Just two weeks into November, and Delhi is already feeling cold!l The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert not just for Delhi but also for other northern states between November 10 and November 12. So, pull up your socks and put on your jackets; it’s about to get a lot colder.

Cold Wave Alert In Place For Delhi & Other Northern States

IMD has issued a cold wave alert for Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh. According to the X post by the India Meteorological Department, the cold wave conditions are likely to stay in place from November 10 to November 12. People in northern India should brace for colder days ahead. Severe cold wave conditions are also likely in parts of West Madhya Pradesh, while East MP and Chhattisgarh is expected to experience similar conditions between November 10 and November 14. Jharkhand and Odisha are likely to stay cold from November 11 to November 12.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the minimum temperature is expected to drop by 2-3°C across northwest India in the coming days. Reportedly, cold wave and severe cold wave conditions have already been recorded in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

South India Can Expect Rainfall In The Coming Days

Cold wave conditions have also started affecting isolated pockets of Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh since November 9. As per The Times of India, people in Jaipur, Udaipur, Gwalior, and Bhopal have already experienced extremely cold mornings this month.

There’s no major rainfall forecast for northern India. However, southern states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala can expect a spell of rain and thunderstorms in the coming days. Heavy rainfall is expected in Chennai, Cuddalore, Puducherry and Karaikal. Residents have been advised to stay alert.

With a cold wave alert in place for Delhi and several northern states, residents are advised to stay warm. Meanwhile, those in southern India should stay safe during the expected rainfall and thunderstorms.
