It is certainly getting cold. We did not expect 2026 to bring this much chill into our lives. Be it Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, or other cities, cool weather has gripped large parts of India. People are doubling up on sweaters and constantly stocking up on warm beverages. Here are the latest weather updates from India you need to know.
Bangalore To Get Colder In The Coming Weeks
According to a report by News18, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an important update for Karnataka. A cold wave spell will continue across the state, and Bangalore is likely to get even colder in the coming weeks. The weather may start feeling slightly warmer only when February begins. But that is not all. Rain is expected in Bangalore on January 9 and 10. So, brace yourself. Take out your warm sweaters and cosy socks.
IMD has also said that North Karnataka will witness a further drop in temperatures over the next few days. Night-time temperatures will fall, making mornings and evenings feel much colder. Karnataka is not the only region feeling the chill this year. According to a report by The Indian Express, Kolkata recorded its coldest January day in 12 years on Tuesday. The minimum temperature dropped to 10°C. Hard to believe, right? This year, Kolkata is clearly experiencing unusually cold weather.

IMD has warned that minimum temperatures across northwest India could drop by 2-3°C over the next four days.
Mumbai also experienced a chilly morning with fog on Tuesday, January 6. According to Mumbai Now, residents felt some relief as the day progressed and temperatures increased. Skies cleared up later, but the AQI remained ‘moderate’ at 124. Looks like Delhi is not the only city facing a cold spell this year. Even Bangalore, Mumbai & Kolkata are feeling the chill.
