Indian Traveller In Bhutan Criticises Loud Indian Tourists, Netizens Say, “We Lack Civic Sense”

Indian Tourists Bhutan

People often share their travel experiences online, but they are not always good. That’s exactly the case with the video we’re about to tell you about. A video from Dochula Pass, Bhutan, is going viral, where an Indian traveller openly criticised fellow Indians for being “too loud” at a tourist destination. The clip has sparked a heated debate online, with netizens sharing their differing opinions. Here’s more on this.

Man Criticises Indian Tourists In Bhutan

The video was uploaded by Stephen T, who goes by the username @growithstephen on his Instagram account. Shot at Dochula Pass in Bhutan, the clip shows him pointing out how loud a group of Indian tourists was at the spot. The video opens with him saying, “Dude, why are Indians so loud? Everywhere they go, it’s just noise.” He then pans his camera to show a crowd of Indian tourists chatting loudly around him.

Dochula Pass, located in Bhutan, is home to 108 stupas built in honour of Bhutanese soldiers who lost their lives in battle. The pass symbolises peace. It also offers panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Gangkhar Puensum, the world’s highest unclimbed mountain.

In the video, Stephen adds that Indians should learn to respect the peace of other countries. “It just makes it embarrassing for other Indians who try to respect traditions,” he says. He then turns to his mother and asks, “Am I right, mother?” to which she replies, “Yes.” She even adds that sometimes she feels ashamed to be part of it. The caption under the clip read, “No wonder people from other countries don’t like the Indian crowd as such. Do you agree?”

Mixed Reactions Online

Like most viral clips, this one too sparked quick reactions. One user wrote, “You are so right,” while another said, “We have a lack of civic sense, I think.” Another wrote, “We were there today and said the same thing to ourselves.” Another Instagram user also added, “Same thing my friend and I were discussing when visiting Sikkim, especially the stupas and temples. It was embarrassing, though we were in our own country.”

But not everyone agreed. Some pointed out that Stephen himself was using a selfie stick and making videos in a place meant for silence. One comment read, “So why are you making this reel for views? How does it help the situation?”
