Good news for travellers! As per the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry, tourist visa services from Bangladeshi diplomatic missions located in India are all set to resume from Monday. The move is expected to bring relief to many Indian travellers who had postponed their plans in recent months. Read on to know more.
Bangladesh To Resume Tourist Visa For Indians
According to The Tribune, the Bangladesh government had suspended tourist visa services from its diplomatic missions in India due to security concerns. Now, post-Bangladesh elections, the situation seems to be improved, and the visa services have improved, and visa services will be fully resumed from Monday.

Apart from tourist visas, other visa services were mostly ongoing from various major cities of India, like Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Mumbai and Kolkata, wherever Bangladeshi diplomatic missions are located. A Bangladesh foreign ministry also stated that tourist visas had generally been stopped but were still issued in emergency cases.
According to ANI via The Tribune, an official shared that they did not formally announce it as stopped, and we are not formally announcing it as resumed either. He also stated that it was ongoing and would now be expanded widely from Monday.
Indian Visa Services Are Still Suspended
Additionally, around February 12, when the elections in Bangladesh were held, the government had instructed its missions in India to suspend tourist visas from January 15 to February 15. The visas were issued only in urgent cases. Not only in India, but Bangladeshi services were also completely stopped for countries like Bhutan and Nepal due to security reasons. After reviewing the overall situation, all types of visas, including tourist visas, are being fully resumed from Monday in all countries.
However, Indian visa services for Bangladeshis are still suspended, especially the tourist visa, with a few categories remaining ongoing.
As per the Tribune, during the period of the interim government led by Professor Muhammad Yunus, relations between India and Bangladesh worsened. After the February 12 election, when the government was led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, there were signs of improvement in relations.
